Studying abroad is one of the most important decisions you can make as a student, offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture while earning college credits! On our ECU TUSCANY program students live in one of the most picturesque regions of Tuscany, taking advantage of travel throughout Italy, with classes taught by our own ECU teachers.  Most classes fulfill General Education program requirements in humanities, social science, science, fine arts, kinesiology and foreign language. For a total price that is less than out of state tuition, ECU students, as well as students from other universities, earn 12-18 credits during the 3- month fall or spring terms and up to 7 credits during the shorter summer sessions, all while making lifelong friendships, living, learning and traveling together!  Click on the semester you are interested in to learn details about classes offered.

Class in courtyard

Class in Certaldo Alto courtyard

We live and learn in the heart of Tuscany, birthplace of the Renaissance and one of the most beautiful and culturally rich areas of the world. Our classrooms and apartments are located in  Certaldo Alto, a very safe, authentic, medieval walled city where it is easy to imagine life in the Middle Ages. A 5- minute walk takes us to the train station in the larger city of Certaldo Basso,  with easy access to major cities like Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Bologna, Cinque Terre and many smaller villages in the Chianti region. Students live in apartments just steps away from our classrooms in the Palazzo Stiozzi Ridolfi, renovated and designed specifically for ECU, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside.

The program cost includes tuition, lodgings, many meals, and group travel together (click on travel page for more info and photos!)
