Student Success


The Office of Global Affairs assists our international students in their transition of life of East Carolina University, North Carolina and the United States. We want our students to be successful in the classroom and engage in the active and vibrant life of an American college student. Below are some departments that you may find helpful during your time at ECU.

The Pirate Academic Success Center:

Provides free tutoring services, study coaches, workshops, academic mentoring and the FIP Scholars program. All services are offered free for ECU enrolled students.

University Writing Center:

Available to students, faculty, and staff to work with undergraduate and graduate writing consultants at any stage of the writing process.

ECU Athletics:

ECU is proud of its athletic program and now you are part of the “Pirate Nation”. Cheer forĀ  ECU football, basketball, baseball, and its other sports teams. Students receive free tickets to all sporting events.

Student Government Association:

ECU invites its international students to take an active role in making positive changes on campus.

Campus Recreation and Wellness:

Take a closer look at ECU’s student recreation facilities, fitness and adventure programs, and schedule of recreation events.

Student Organizations:

The Office of Student Activities and Organizations is committed to providing a broad range of co-curricular, educational, developmental, and social experiences by providing quality programs and support.

The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement:

Seeks to foster an environment where individuals learn about themselves and their community, take action through service, and advocate for lasting social changes.

Center for Counseling and Student Development:

The mission is to enhance personal growth through developmental, preventive and therapeutic programming designed to facilitate skill development, improved functioning and increased understanding of self and others.

Office of Student Right and Responsibilities:

Fosters growth by promoting student awareness and understanding of their rights and responsibilities as community members, addressing student conduct and creating developmental learning opportunities, and engaging students in ethical decision-making.
