Global BEEHIVE


Global Business, Education, Environment, and Health International Virtual Exchange (Global BEEHIVE), is a set of four topic specific International Virtual Exchange courses that build upon our proven, award winning, Global Understanding model. These courses were designed by multi-country teams of faculty experts in each topic and will be offered in collaboration with four partner institutions. The development of these courses was made possible by a U.S. Department of Education International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) grant.

Global Business: The Global Business courses examines variations in business practices around the world. Topics examined include business etiquette and protocols, the business environment, leadership, strategy, competition and factors for success, and market segmentation. Students then work together to analyze a case study and develop a recommendation about various aspects of the case. The development team for the Global Business course includes representatives from China Pharmaceutical University in China, Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico, University of Tours in France, and ECU’s College of Business.

Global Education: The Global Education courses examines variations in educational structure around the world. Topics include the aims and goals of education, school choice, educational equity, testing systems, and moderating classroom behavior. Students also work together on a collaborative project focused on developing an advocacy plan for effective educational practice. The development team for the Global Education course includes representatives from Universidad Mayor in Chile, Shaanxi Normal University in China, HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, and ECU’s College of Education.

Global Environment: The Global Environment course is in development. The development team for the Global Environment course includes representatives from Aboubekr Belkaid University of Tlemcen in Algeria, Ivan Franko L’viv National University in Ukraine, Universidad Piloto de Colombia in Colombia, and ECU’s Department of Geography, Planning and the Environment.

Global Health: The Global Health course is in development. The development team for the Global Health course includes representatives from Modern University for Business and Sciences in Lebanon, Jagiellonian University in Poland, University of The Gambia in the Gambia, and ECU’s College of Nursing.
