GPE Programming

  • Global Understanding: Global Understanding is a semester long, interdisciplinary course. Depending on semester length, partners typically work with 3 partners from various regions of the world consecutively for 4 – 5 weeks each. Daily live student led videoconference discussions, chats, and collaborative student projects provide personal, global experiences that open student perspectives about other cultures and build the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to thrive in a global multicultural society.
  • Global Courses: In our discipline specific or global courses, two or more partner institutions work together to develop and co-teach semester long, project-based, collaborative courses on a specific topic within the same or complementary discipline.
  • WorldWise Student Organization: WorldWise is a student organization whose mission is for students around the world to collaborate to promote diversity and acceptance; awareness and engagement; confidence and empathy; passion and purpose. Participating partner institutions establish local WorldWise chapters. Each month, chapters plan local programming, engage with all other chapters asynchronously through a social media platform, and hold a collaborative on-line session with an assigned partner all surrounding a single predetermined topic that has global significance.
  • Global Issues Virtual Conference: Global Issues is an on-line student and faculty research conference that is organized in collaboration with Krosno State College in Krosno, Poland. Over the course of one week, students and faculty at ECU and GPE partner institutions present their original research and are then able to discuss their research with their peers and faculty from around the world.
  • GPEWorld Interactive Story Map: GPE World is a series of interactive story maps providing information about each of the countries where GPE partner institutions are located.
  • GPE Annual Conference: Each year, Global Partners in Education holds an annual conference at one of our partner institutions to share research and best practices, network with fellow participants to further internationalization efforts on their home campuses, introduce new initiatives and discuss ways to improve existing programming.
  • GPE Journal: Global Partners in Education Journal is a peer reviewed, on-line journal that focuses on research and best practices related to multi-institutional collaboration in global education. GPE Journal is currently on hiatus and only publishes special issues.
