Olivia
Hi! My name is Olivia, I am a third year at ECU studying in hospitality management. I am from all around Charlotte, North Carolina. I love traveling absolutely anywhere and I am always down for an adventure! In the spring 2024 semester I studied abroad with the ECU Tuscany program where I was able to fully immerse myself in other foreign cultures and live out my traveling dreams! I am so excited to be able to share my personal experience with you and hopefully help you in the decision making process of creating your own study abroad memories 🙂
Where did you study abroad?
Tuscany, Italy
What is Your Favorite Memory from Your Time Abroad?
One of my favorite memories from being abroad are the dinners! The meal times in Italy are really long, so some nights we could be eating dinner for up to a few hours. So I enjoyed having that time to sit and really soak everything in unlike the fast pace of America.
How Has Studying Abroad Helped Your Personal and Professional Life?
It has helped me grow in so many ways as a person. I think it’s made me more independent, decisive, and personable as well as advanced my social skills!
What Advice Can You Offer to Students Interested in Studying Abroad?
I would advise to just do it. I know it’s a generic answer but the whole process can seem like a lot of steps and going out of the country can seem frightening but after you do it you will question why you were ever considering not doing it because it truly is a life changing experience.
Do You Have Any Plans or Ideas to Travel Abroad Again?
Yes! I hope to either do a summer abroad or the hospitality management major six-month study abroad program in Switzerland!
