Project Description:
In this project, students explored assessment frameworks in L2 teaching and learning contexts in Argentina and the US. Students led presentations on assessment frameworks used within their own instructional contexts and worked in small groups on the design of an integrated performance assessment. The project culminated with a final showcase of students’ work.
Modality:
Synchronous, Asynchronous, Project-based
Tools Used:
Webex, Google Docs
Project Length:
4 – 5 Weeks
Learning Outcomes/Goals:
- Students can describe assessment frameworks in varied L2 teaching and learning contexts
- Students can explain key similarities and differences among various L2 assessment frameworks
- Students can co-create an original performance based assessment
Benefits for Students:
Students were able to learn from each other, as they had the opportunity to lead presentations on the selected topic within their own contexts with our international partners. Students also had the opportunity to collaborate in intercultural groups, which helped them develop intercultural and leadership skills.
Tips:
Planning ahead is key and details matter! My partner and I spent time getting to know each other, discussing main similarities and differences in the content and approaches to teaching the selected topic, and together co-designed the sequence of activities.
