Classes
ECULA is an academically-focused Intensive English Program. It gives students the language skills they need to succeed in today’s academic and professional environments.
ECULA offers three levels of instruction: High Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Students across all levels are immersed in a skills-based program with separate courses in the four main skills of reading, writing, grammar, and listening/speaking. Students also take part in a weekly
Speech/Pronunciation Laboratory as well as a twice-weekly conversational Language Partners Program with other ECU students.
Classes meet four days a week, Monday – Thursday, with Friday being reserved for student activities and field trips. All classes in all skill areas meet daily and are 75 minutes in duration, with the exception of the twice-weekly Language Partners meetings which are 60 minutes in length. This amounts to 22 hours of instructional time per week.
