Heather

Hello! My name is Heather and I am a Sports Performance major with a minor in Composite Natural Science and Communications. I am also from Raleigh, NC.

Where did you study abroad?

I studied abroad with the ECU Tuscany program as well as Spain and Australia with Dr. Warner.

What is Your Favorite Memory from Your Time Abroad?

My favorite memory from study abroad is the traveling to different historic cities that the rest of the students and I went on while we were in Italy after going with our professors.

How Has Studying Abroad Helped Your Personal and Professional Life?

Studying abroad has helped my personal life by pushing me out of my comfort zone and allowing me to grow more independent, confident, and adaptable. Living in a new culture taught me how to communicate across differences and appreciate new perspectives. Professionally, it made me more adaptable in diverse work environments and improving my ability to collaborate with people from different cultural backgrounds.

What Advice Can You Offer to Students Interested in Studying Abroad?

My advice to students interested in studying abroad is to keep an open mind and be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Take advantage of every opportunity to experience the culture, whether through language, food, or local traditions, because those experiences will stay with you long after the program ends.

You can email Heather at coeh22@students.ecu.edu to learn more about her experience!
